Development, Characterization, and Cavitation Erosion Analysis of High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF) sprayed TiC and (70Cu-30Ni)-Cr Based Composite Coatings on SS316 Steel

چکیده

A novel composite coating was developed by depositing powders of Titanium Carbide (TiC) with Cupronickel (70Cu-30Ni) and Chromium (Cr) as binders onto SS316 steel specimens using the High Velocity Oxy Fuel (HVOF) process. The coatings were characterized Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), their surface hardness, roughness, porosity evaluated. cavitation erosion resistance coated uncoated tested a Stream Water Jet Rig under varying impingement conditions. Coating TiC+50% (70Cu-30Ni)-Cr exhibited better to induced pressure waves than any other proportion coatings, due intermediate hardness damping effect. Further, mixed mode failure observed in TiC+50%(70Cu-30Ni)-Cr coating.

Characterization of hydroxyapatiteynano-zirconia composite coatings deposited by high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spray process

Hydroxyapatite (HA)ynano-zirconia composite coatings were successfully produced through high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying of radio frequency (RF) plasma synthesized powders. Microstructure characterization and morphology analysis on the nano-structured coatings were conducted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), and d...

Relationships between spray parameters, microstructures and ultrasonic cavitation erosion behavior of HVOF sprayed Fe-based amorphous/nanocrystalline coatings.

Fe-based amorphous/nanocrystalline coatings were prepared on the AISI 321 steel substrate by the high-velocity oxygen-fuel (HVOF) thermal spraying technology. The effect of selected parameters (oxygen flow, kerosene flow and spray distance) on the cavitation erosion resistance (denoted as Rc) of the coating were investigated by using the Taguchi method. Statistical tools such as design of exper...

Laser deposited TiC/H13 tool steel composite coatings and their erosion resistance

The present work studies the synthesis and performance of TiC/H13 tool steel composite coatings obtained by the laser deposition technique. he effect of laser beam-scanning speeds and the concentrations of TiC in injected powder on the morphologies and microstructures of deposited eads are investigated. The results show that the beam-scanning speeds affect the size and morphology of the beads. ...

Effect of Porosity on Cavitation Erosion Resistance of HVOF Processed Tungsten Carbide Coatings

The phenomenon of cavitation is widely experienced in both pumps and under-water components of hydro power plants. The mechanism of material damage during cavitation is mainly attributed to implosion of high velocity bubbles on to the surface giving raise to local increase in stresses in excess of 1.4 GPa. In addition, material wastage due to particle induced erosion is observed in hydro plants...

On the role of particle state and deposition procedure on mechanical, tribological and dielectric response of high velocity oxy-fuel sprayed alumina coatings

It is well known that the high velocity oxy-fuel based thermal spray process impart high density and reduced porosity in coatings compared to those produced by other ambient thermal spray processes. The benefits of HVOF have largely remained in the domain of metals and cermets and limited investigations have been carried out in ceramic coatings. The ability to produce high density ceramic coati...
